Hot Water System
Modern hot water systems generally use less electricity and need little or no maintenance. To get the best value from your hot water follow these simple guidelines.
- Install your hot water system near the hot taps used most often.
- Try to protect the hot water system from the weather if possible.
- Replace washers on leaking hot water taps.
- Take short showers rather than a bath. A five-minute shower uses less hot and cold water than filling a bath.
- Fit a water-saver shower rose.
- Fitting a flow control valve can halve the volume used each minute without reducing pressure.
- Install a heat trap near the outlet of the hot water system and insulate at least the first two metres of pipe leading away from the system.
