Z

National grid: The sum of all connected transmission systems and distribution systems within the participating jurisdictions.

NEM (National Electricity Market): Is a set of market operations built around a wholesale electricity pool for the supply and purchase of electricity networks across participating states including South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT, Queensland and Tasmania.

NEMMCO (National Electricity Market and Management Company): The body that is responsible for the administration and operation of the wholesale national electricity market in accordance with AER.

Network: The Network is made up of equipment, plant and buildings (eg power lines, transformers, substations) used to control the conveyance of electricity to customers.

Network Charge (or Distribution Charge): These are charges relating to the use of the local electricity network to deliver electricity to the customer. The Distributor (or LNSP) controls this charge and it is approved by the government. This charge is passed on to the customer via the electricity retailer.

NMI (National Meter Identifier): This is a unique number allocated to your main electricity meter.
