EIOSA (Energy Industry Ombudsman of South Australia): The Energy Ombudsman is an independent, government-funded service, which receives, investigates and resolves enquires and complaints against electricity companies.
Electricity: a property of matter caused by the movement of electrons. This "movement" is initiated usually by a generator, which is fuelled by any number of energy sources such as coal, water (hydropower), or directly converted from solar radiation in photovoltaic cells.
Energy Charges: This is what electricity retailers charge you for your consumption for the period covered by your bill. This is the price component that is subject to competition.
EOQ (Energy Ombudsman Queensland): The Energy Ombudsman Queensland is a free, fair and independent service which receives, investigates and resolves enquiries and complaints against electricity and gas companies. For more information on EOQ refer to www.eoq.com.au.
EWON (Energy and Water Ombudsman NSW): The Energy and Water Ombudsman is an independent government funded service, which receives, investigates and resolves enquires and complaints against electricity companies. It is an independent government-funded service.
EWOV (Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria): The Energy and Water Ombudsman is an independent government funded service, which receives, investigates and resolves enquires and complaints against electricity companies. It is an independent government-funded service.
ESC (Essential Services Commission): The function of the ESC is to regulate and monitor essential services in VIC, including the supply of electricity. For more information on ESC refer to www.esc.vic.gov.au.
ESCOSA (Essential Services Commission of South Australia: The function of ESCOSA is to regulate and monitor essential services in SA, including the supply of electricity. For more information on ESCOSA refer to www.escosa.sa.gov.au.
Explicit Informed Consent: This refers to certain States’ guidelines that provide an electricity retailer must obtain explicit informed consent before a relevant customer can transfer between retailers. That means, the retailer must ensure the customer understands that they are about to enter into a contract with the electricity retailer in question, and that they consent to the transfer. |
