Demand: The total amount of electricity required by customers at any one time.
Deregulation: The process of decreasing or removing government regulatory control over industries and letting competitive forces drive the market. Full deregulation of the electricity retail market in certain states is also known as Full Retail Competition.
Direct current: An electric current that flows steadily in one direction around a circuit. Batteries produce direct current.
Disclosure Statement: As part of our compliance procedure, Powerdirect provides every relevant customer with a customer checklist, in which they are made aware of certain information and which also serves to ensure that our business maintains excellent levels of customer care.
Distribution: The use of the Network to transport electricity from the bulk supply points to the customer's point of connection.
Distributor: Your distributor is the organisation that owns the poles and wires used to distribute electricity to your premises. Your distributor is responsible for the maintenance and for keeping the equipment in good order to make sure you receive electricity safely and continuously. Power interruptions are generally the responsibility of the distributor. See also LNSP.
Distribution Charges (or Network Charges): This is the charge you incur for the delivery of electricity and maintenance of the poles and wires. This amount is charged by the Distributor. |
